Presentation from the ALT-ELESIG Scotland meeting on the 30th May 2025. Full Title: Embodied practices to sustain: steps towards making good on the commitment to be guided by Indigenous communities in our sustainability work. Presenter: Dr Beth Cross (University of the West of Scotland) Although within the calls to decolonise HE there has been consistent emphasis to open the cannon and our practices to Indigenous knowledge systems, the primacy of relational embodied practices within them has difficulty disrupting text bound habits still prevalent. This session will reflect on the work of SGSAH Homestretch and Embodied Writing Retreat activities that explore ongoing work to Indigenise academic practice through discernment processes that seek to ground our academic orientation in relational attunement to the creative and agen-tive world in its past, present and future generative incarnations. I preface the session with work Indigenous colleagues Jennifer Markides and Liisa-Ravna Finbog and I have done that brings The UN Declaration of the Rights of Indigenous Peoples and the Earth Charter into conversation with SDG policy framework. The session will end with a small reflective activity in pairs.
