This is part 1 of a tutorial originally created for students studying in the Ocean & Naval Architectural Engineering discipline at Memorial University of Newfoundland’s Faculty of Engineering & Applied Science in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada. The tutorial is primarily aimed at early intermediate Naval Architecture students looking to develop their familiarity with they typical Hydrostatic Curve of Form. The objective of tutorial Hydrostatics 301 is to increase your understanding of the uses and method of applying the hydrostatic principles of naval architecture to aid in the manual design and production of Bonjean Curves of a vessel or offshore structure. Note: This series is not affiliated with any faculty or department at Memorial University of Newfoundland. By the end of tutorial Hydrostatics 301, you should be able to: -Explain the origin and structure of Bonjean curves -Identify the inputs necessary to derive a set of Bonjean curves -Manually produce the Bonjean curve for a primitive vessel There are many excellent books on stability fundamentals, including: Applied Naval Architecture (Zubaly): https://www.amazon.ca/Applied-Naval-A... Introduction to Naval Architecture (Tupper): https://www.amazon.ca/Introduction-Na... Introduction to Naval Architecture (Gillmer & Johnson): https://www.amazon.ca/Introduction-Na...
