Zurich Flood Resilience Alliance webinar: A fair share of climate finance

Funding gaps are leaving low-income countries at the mercy of the climate crisis. Worse still, those responsible for causing the problem aren't doing nearly enough to resolve it. At COP15, developed countries committed to a goal of mobilizing $100 billion dollars a year by 2020 to address the needs of developing countries. At subsequent conferences, this was extended to 2025. Unfortunately, this target has been consistently missed, and is not expected to be met until 2023 at the earliest. In this webinar, The Zurich Flood Resilience Alliance and ODI examined their recent study, ‘A Fair Share of Climate Finance?’ which seeks to apportion responsibility for the funding gap. We also heard from colleagues across the Alliance on why climate finance must reach the most vulnerable at the local level, and why it should be coordinated & complimentary with humanitarian/development finance. Speakers: Sarah Colenbrander & Laetitia Pettinotti, ODI Carina Bachofen, IFRC Climate Centre Maureene Atieno Ndirangu, Concern Worldwide Cristina Perez, Plan International Barbara Rosen Jacobsen, Mercy Corps (moderator) --- The Zurich Flood Resilience Alliance is a multi-sectoral partnership focusing on finding practical ways to support communities in developed and developing countries to strengthen their resilience to flood risk. Our vision is that floods have no negative impact on people’s and business’ ability to thrive.
