Photographer Jennifer George-Walker shoots a studio lit portrait with the Tamron 17-50 f2.8 lens Visit our official Website:https://www.tamron-usa.com/ Find an Authorized Tamron Dealer Today: https://www2.tamron-usa.com/dealers.aspx Follow Us: Facebook:   / tamronlensesusa   Instagram:   / tamronusa   Twitter:   / tamronusa   Transcript: portraits are one of the most popular forms of photography and correctly using your studio lighting knowing your equipment and your relationship with the subject can make the difference between a good portrait and a great one my name is Jennifer George Walker and I'm a portrait photographer in this Tamron podcast I like to show you how to take your studio session to the next level the first most important thing to do is to match your equipment to your vision or your clients request for this session I wanted to create a stylized high-fashion look I'll be using Tamron's 17 - 50 millimeter 2.8 lens bring your face towards me pull your face towards me excellent in this session I'm trying to create an artsy stylized look and the 17 -50 lens is perfect for this it allows me to capture a full-length shot from the side of the face then zoom into her face bring that chin down that's so harsh bringing out a little bit and with a little distortion I can create a punky look okay like this is totally the shot lighting is just as important is the settings on your camera or the angle of your shot I want to create an image that is wholly focused on our model Heather I'll use a white background that we lit two stops higher than the subject yeah one of the goals in any portrait session is to draw emotion from the subject because I trust my equipment I am free to interact with my clients then I can gain their trust and see them become more natural in their expressions the relationship between the model and photographer is critical to the end product you have to be able to reach in as the photographer and pull out those emotions from that model and being able to come in close be able to verbally give them cues and talk to them will make a big difference on how your photo turns out pull that one arm of the tattoo in front of you wrap it into your body I like Tamron lenses because they're compact in fact six Tamron lenses in my camera bag weigh as much as one from another manufacturer there are also great value for the quality image they create but I primarily use their lenses because always want to use the best tool for every job and Tamron is it
