▶ Storyline: "Law of the Plainsman, 1960" Season 01: Episode 19 "The Imposter": Sam was the only one in Santa Fe. The Marshal and all of his deputies were not in town. I don't know which task was harder: keeping his prisoner safe in jail or contending with the whole town, which was in a commotion because Col. Efram Springer wouldn't shut up. Sam was holding a man in jail who was accused of murder, and a lot of people thought his gang was going to get him. The men were scared that the gang would come in and start shooting. But things really got bad when the "marshal" showed up. He said he was a marshal, at least. Sam had the sensation that he wasn't truly a marshal when he talked to him and watched how he reacted. Sam wouldn't let the "marshal" take his prisoner until he got the go-ahead from Marshal Morrison. Sam did his best to explain that he was only a deputy and didn't have the power to let him go. They just wanted Remmick to leave. They didn't want to wait. The iconic ABC Western TV show The Rifleman, starring Chuck Connors, featured the character of Native American Deputy U.S. Marshal Sam Buckhart in two episodes: "The Indian" and "The Raid." Four Star Productions and Levy-Gardner-Laven Productions worked together to make this show, just like they did with The Rifleman. Law of the Plainsman is unique because it was one of the few TV shows at the time that had a Native American as the main character. This was a big move for American network television at the time. Ansara has previously acted in the show Broken Arrow, when he played the Apache chief Cochise. But Ansara was not Native American; he was of Syrian heritage. ▶ Genre: Western television series Director David Lowell Rich Writer David Lang Starring Michael Jacques Aubuchon, Robert Harland Release date: February 4, 1960, USA 1 Season, 30 Episodes. ▶ If you have questions, please send an email to mrvalentineshorts@gmail.com.
