I marked the stand for income and also marked poor quality red maple and aspen to come out for TSI and to provide more light to the forest floor. This thinning will stimulate oak and cherry regeneration and provide browse and cover for deer and grouse. By using a Consulting Forester, this landowner got a fair price for his timber and quality logging job. Without a Consulting Forester, this tract would have been severely high-graded and left with skidder ruts, damaged trees and no timber left for future harvesting. I could have marked much more timber but am leaving enough for another harvest in 20 years
