SPECTRUM Philadelphia Phantoms clips from 2007 - 2009 Last Game Regular Season game at THE SPECTRUM

This is some home video I shot on an old handy-cam trying to document what it was like to see a Phantoms game at the Philadelphia Spectrum. It is mostly unedited raw footage never intended for YouTube. It is shaky and out of focus at times but it captures the feel of the concourse and what it was like to see a game there. I posted this for all hockey fans but in particular for my fellow Philadelphians that know the Spectrum the Flyers and Phantoms. This truly is for you. I hope it brings back memories. The video starts with showing the last regular season game ever at the Spectrum in 2009 (there was a handful of playoff games after I shot this video). But the last regular season game was the final game with all the Spectrum fanfare. I do a bit of a walk around to capture what going to the game there was like, take some last looks at the exterior and concourse (including Bullies) and then I have a few clips of game play but not much from that last game. This was never meant to be public so this is not a documentary nor do I capture everything but some at least. Sadly the source tape was a bit damaged so I could not post the entire video - regardless with what I posted I figure this footage may be a bit rare because cell phone video was in it's infancy when I made this recording so there may not be a lot of footage out there like this. After our look at the last regular season game in 2009, we will travel back to 2007 to see game clips from the lower bowl near center ice, where my seats were, long before there was any concrete public knowledge that the Phantoms may move and the Spectrum would be demolished…. I was devastated and Ed Snyder wasn't happy about it either (RIP Mr. Snyder) Think about it.... this classic and historical venue was replaced by a glorified bar called "Philly Live" That's it. We lost our team and our vintage arena for an overpriced bar. Was it worth it? You could have built Philly Live and kept the Spectrum and the Phantoms...(can you tell I am still bitter about it?) Anywho, after those clips we jump forward to 2010 as they are working on knocking the spectrum down. Long story short with this video you get a little bit of everything. I hope you enjoy it! I really miss seeing the Phantoms down at the Spectrum. You could go on a whim and be there in a few minutes walk up to the window and get tickets, you could eat at Bullies after the game with the AHL refs having a drink at the bar, sometimes you might even see a player or two... It was an awesome time to be a hockey fan. I live in the past with a lot of things including missing the Phantoms being close to home, but for the record, I love what they did up in Allentown. It is great seeing games up there. I realy enjoy it and I go to a few games each year! If you have not gone to a game in Allentown yet, It's not really that far away. Just requires more planning, gone are the days of hopping on 95 or Broad Street or Septa and being there in a few minutes, but if you live near Philly, give yourself about 1 1/2 hours to get there; take the NE extension or 309.... You will find it's a great hockey environment with loyal Phantoms fans in a superb modern arena; Tip: If you want to park close in the garage that is connected to the arena (get the prepaid parking you buy your tickets online) otherwise you have to walk a little further up the street to the next garage (but it's still pretty close with ample parking) I go up there often and have a blast; I always smile when I see an old Philadelphia Phantoms jersey up there! Let's go Phantoms! Good Night and Good Hockey! **Special note on this video, on some clips the audio is slightly out of sync (this is a little noticeable near the end of the video- during the shootouts), it is basically a glitch where the audio ends a few seconds before the video does and that audio has shifted up placing it out of sync at times. It is barely noticeable most times, but it does leave some audio out of sync or silent during some clips or the wrong few seconds of sound in the wrong spot of the clip…. There are also some clips where the video freezes and you may or may not hear audio (usually at the end of a clip). The audio and freezing issues were all caused by limitations in how this first generation direct to dvd video camera recorded directly to mini DVD’s. And, as a result this was a source tape issue caused by a defective camera. (The whole original source video was glitching some of it corrupted so I was lucky to transfer what I did) But overall the video you see is authentic and in sync with how it is presented.
