Basic capitalization guideline: a) Words at the beginning of sentences are capitalized. b) Nouns and noun-like words (nominalized words) are capitalized. That's it. It's actually quite easy. Here is a key to my color system: Clause Elements (Satzglieder): pink = subject (das Subjekt): often, the element that denotes that of which something is affirmed or predicated. blue = verb (das Verb): the element that expresses an act, occurrence, or mode of being and may indicate person, number, tense, aspect, voice, and mood. yellow = object (das Objekt): the element that receives the energy of the action. green = adverbial (das Adverbial/die Umstandsbestimmung): the element that expresses all matters related to circumstances of the situation expressed by the verb (time, place, manner, cause, reason, condition, ...). orange = predicate complement (das Subjektprädikativ): the element following a link verb that expresses a characteristic or condition of the subject. red = objective predicate (das Objektprädikativ): the element usually following the object that expresses a characteristic or condition of the object. purple = conjunctions that introduce free adverbial sub clauses or add other main clauses plus: orange with shadow around it = Predicate appositive (das fakultative Subjektprädikativ): a non-finite or verbless predicate that is placed alongside the existing predicate and looks like a clause element
