Synopsis: The film account of the years preceding, during and after the Russian Revolution through the view of Yuri Zhivago (Omar Sharif), a doctor and poet. Lara before the revolution had been raped by Victor Komarovsky (Rod Steiger), an unscrupulous politician who had been involved with the mother of Lara, and married Strelnikoff Pasha (Tom Courtenay), who becomes a vengeful revolutionary. The story is narrated in flashback by Yevgraf of Zhivago (Alec Guinness), the half-brother of Yuri seeking his niece, who was the daughter of Jivago with Lara.
