One of the things I’ve rarely talked about but is worth mentioning is using cannabis and training. Smoking weed has got to my favorite pre workout. I either go run, do lots of mobility work, or other strength training. ___ I know there are many people who do he same thing I do but do not feel as comfortable talking about it openly. There is still this weird stigma associated with weed but I’m grateful things are changing. Anyways... Here I am just flowing and moving. ___ What does this do for me? Well this allows me to communicate with my body and check for several things. I’m looking for areas where I lack mobility so I can incorporate them into my training. I’m putting my body in different positions and ensuring that I’m able to generate force from there. I want to own every range of motion available. ___ Being stoned adds this whole other level of awareness. At least it does for me and what I hear from friends is that it helps with the “mind body connection”. You are better able to tap into a certain area and send all your intention there. It is very therapeutic and beneficial when recovering from a workout or even an injury.
