Stellingen is located in the western part of Hamburg, making it a part of the urban fabric of the city. It's situated in the borough of Eimsbüttel, which is known for its mix of residential and commercial areas. Stellingen, like many parts of Hamburg, has a rich history. It was originally a rural area but became increasingly urbanized as Hamburg expanded over the years. Today, it is a well-connected and vibrant district. Stellingen benefits from excellent transportation links. It's home to the Stellingen S-Bahn station, providing easy access to the city center and other parts of Hamburg. The A7 Autobahn (motorway) also runs through Stellingen, making it accessible by car. While Stellingen may not be known for tourist attractions in the traditional sense, it offers a glimpse into local life in Hamburg. You'll find residential neighborhoods, local businesses, and parks where residents enjoy their daily lives. Hamburg is home to various educational institutions, but Stellingen itself may not have a university or major educational facilities. It's not uncommon to find neighborhood events, local celebrations, and activities that reflect the interests and traditions of the residents. ▶ LANGENFELDE Langenfelde is a district located within the Stellingen neighborhood in the Eimsbüttel district of Hamburg. It is primarily known for the Hamburg-Langenfelde railway depot and the Mitropa workshop. On July 1, 1927, Stellingen-Langenfelde was incorporated into Altona, and on April 1, 1938, it became part of Hamburg along with Altona. Since 1949, it has been part of the Hamburg-Eimsbüttel district. The locality is situated along the Altona-Kiel road, which was expanded between 1830 and 1832 as one of the first "artificial roads" in Schleswig-Holstein. It later became Reichsstrasse and is now known as Bundesstraße 4. While the construction of the Bundesautobahn 7 has reduced its significance for long-distance traffic, it now serves as a feeder road to the Stellingen interchange. In 1884, the AKN Railway opened a route from Altona to Kaltenkirchen with a stop in Langenfelde. In 1911, the route was relocated to an embankment, leading to the closure of the Langenfelde stop. Since 1962, Langenfelde has been integrated into the Hamburg S-Bahn network with a station bearing the same name. Currently, the S3, S21, and occasionally A1 lines operate here. Between the AKN route and the railway to Kiel, extensive land had been reserved by the state railway. Unutilized, it was leased to small-scale gardeners. In the 1960s, the Langenfelde Housing Cooperative (now "Baugenossenschaft Hamburger Wohnen eG" after merging with the Hamburg Nord-Ost Housing Cooperative in 2007) began using this land for residential construction.
