Making Backups | Fable: TLC - Modding Guide

- ❔ - - Description - - ❔ - - Welcome to my first video in a series that I am hoping to work on, where I will try and explain the basics for people who are new to modding the game "Fable: The Lost Chapters" and help them learn the things they need to get started. This will include guides on how to install certain software, such as the tools used for editing the games data files. Along with explanations on how to avoid certain mistakes or crashes. Fable: TLC - Modding Guide (YouTube Playlist):    • Fable: TLC - Modding Guide   In this video, I will be demonstrating how to make a "Backup" of your Game Data. This can be done by simply copying the game files (which can be found in the location that you installed it at) and pasting those same files somewhere else on your computer's hard drive. Backing up your game files is great for keeping yourself a fresh copy of the game that you know has no modifications to it, just in case you ever make a mistake when modifying the game files and want to revert back to a vanilla version of the game. This process will allow you to delete your current version of the game and replace it with the "backup version" whenever you find it necessary to do so. If you don't make a backup of your game files, then you are forced to uninstall the game and completely reinstall the entire thing all over again... and you have to do this EVERY time that you make one single mistake. By backing up your game, you will be saving yourself a lot of time in the long run. If you have any questions about the video, then feel free to let me know in the comments below and I will do my best to help you! - ✅ - - How To Back-up Fable: TLC (Game Data) - - ✅ - - Step 1 ---------- Find where your game's "File Directory" is located on your computer's Hard Drive. In other words, find where exactly the game was installed to! Where you have to look for the files in this step, will actually depend on which version of the game that you are currently using on your PC. These are the default file paths for each version: CD Version: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games Steam Version: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common Step 2 ---------- Now you can copy the entire "Fable The Lost Chapters" folder that is located here and paste it somewhere else on your computer or Hard Drive. This can be done by right clicking the folder and then pressing copy. Once you have done that, you can create a New Folder somewhere else on your computer and then paste the game files in there. Step 3 ----------- Whenever you run into any issue or your game crashes because of modding it, just delete the version of the game that you are currently playing with and paste in this new "Backup Version" which you have just created. Congratulations, you have learned how to make a backup of your Game Data! - ✅ - - How To Back-up Fable: TLC (Save Data) - - ✅ - - Step 1 ---------- Find where your game's "Save File Directory" is located on your computer's Hard Drive, which is pretty much the same for everyone, regardless of what version of the game that you are using! Save File Directory: C:\Users\Capri\Documents\My Games Step 2 ---------- Now you can copy the entire "Fable" folder that is located here and paste it somewhere else on your computer. This process is pretty much the same as "Step 2" for backing up your Game Data, however, you might want to keep both of these New Folders separated. Congratulations, you have learned how to make a backup of your Save Data! - 🛠 - - Notes - - 🛠 - - 1 ) You CAN just copy the "Data" folder that is found inside of your game's File Directory in a lot of cases. That being said, there are some mods which are known to change files that are located outside of the data folder. In my opinion, it is best to copy the entire game folder... just to be sure! 2 ) If you aren't aware, the "Steam Version" of Fable: TLC does not actually have DRM (Digital Rights Management). This means that it is possible for you to copy the Game Data from its default File Directory and still play that "Copied" version of the game. You also don't need to be signed into your Steam account! 3 ) Don't forget that you can also use this exact same technique to help create backups for any modded versions of your game files too! - 🌎 - - Social Media - - 🌎 - - Want to support this YouTube Channel?
