D-ID has the best free trial at 5 minutes, and you can create multiple accounts to get more time, but that's not an ideal solution. Instead, I found a great free option using Hugging Face Spaces. Here's how I set it up: First, I opened up the Space and uploaded my image. Then I chose an expression scale between 1 and 1.5 for the best effect. I set the Face Model Resolution to 512 and used the Full preprocess setting. For Facerender, I went with facevid2vid, and enabled GFPGAN as the Face enhancer to further improve image quality. I set the length of the generated video in seconds based on my needs. Finally, I clicked Generate to create my talking avatar. The process is slow, taking minutes or even up to an hour depending on the video length. You can speed it up by duplicating the Space and upgrading to GPU, or downloading the code and running it locally.
