Or may we say 'Abby 'ardcore! This one is for Leebree's workout session after we had a chat the other day. I'm aware that this has been uploaded to YT already on someone else's channel, though Leebree has no trust in channels and videos to be taken or shut down. so here it is on vic's video pot pourri. TBF, this CD cemented my love of electronic music back in 2013. copyright infringement is not intended. see rights below --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Misc. opinions from Vic: This is one of those DJ mixes that seems to have an artsy/cinematic flair to it. much like the later Northern exposure trilogy by Sasha+Digweed, as well as to a lesser extent, "The journeys by DJ" series of mix CDs. Also, this Ratpack is the Evenson Allen/Mark McKee one, not Frank Sinatra and Co. 😄 - despite being called happy hardcore, i'd rather describe it as an eclectic mix of early drum n bass and UK breakbeat and sounds almost nothing like the Bonkers series that defined the style. of course, there is plenty of bouncy piano and chipmunk vocals to warrant the HH title, there is something a bit dark and downtempo going through it at times. a real case of "don't judge a book by it's cover". the reverb on the mix gives me the impression that it was recorded live in studio rather than cut-together in studio, it's well put together in any case. - I don't know exactly how old my factory CD is, there have been a few indie CD-r reissues over the years which often have the intro cut off. the mix was recorded in 1994 according to the MC heard through the mix which makes it quite an early example of the HH genre.
