Samuel Hopkins Adams was an American journalist and writer, known for his investigative journalism, best known for his series of articles targetting supposed wonder medicines and their actual health effects. Aside from a series of novels, some adventurous and some more risque, he also produced hundreds of short stories, and today's subject, his debut novel, "The Flying Death". The story of an insomniac doctor traveling to the seaside and being railroped into helping out at a shipwreck, when all of a sudden people start getting killed by what is only gradually revealed to be a Pteranodon, an ancient flying lizard, possibly spewed forth from some hidden chamber beneath the Earth's crust.
