F-Zero 99 surprised me. While it's initial reveal unearthed some skepticism, after diving into the game for myself, I found I was having the most fun I've had with a multiplayer Nintendo game in years, and a lot of that has to do with what I can only assume was the development philosophy; breath new life into a forgotten IP at the source with a bold, focused, and interesting idea. It's important for me to talk about F-Zero 99 not just because it's a good game, but because it embodies the Nintendo I've been missing for years and want to see more of.
