In this episode I take my teardrop camper to Kanawha State Forest near Charleston, West Virginia for a camping and hiking adventure. Even though this forest is only about seven miles from the city, it feels like you’re deep in the mountains. With over 60 miles of hiking trails, there’s no shortage of places to explore. While hiking the CCC Snipe Trail with Juniper, we stumble upon something unexpected hidden in the woods — a sealed coal mine from the early 1900s. The entrance was closed by the CCC in 1941, and according to the sign, crews once discovered abandoned bootlegger mash barrels deep inside. Along the way we enjoy a relaxing teardrop camper camping trip, cook some camp meals, explore the trails, and ride out an approaching thunderstorm in the camper.
