Anatomy of a Mosquito Part 1: The structures of the head

This video was developed to provide a 3–dimensional look at the anatomy of the mosquito. In order to develop the video, Matt Faust developed a 3D image of a mosquito, using photos of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes as a baseline for his model. The 3 dimensional image was then incorporated into a 3–part training video to learn about the structures of the mosquito head, thorax, and abdomen. The goal of these videos were to better teach individuals how to correctly identify features that are commonly used in mosquito identification. We will be using these videos in interactive training materials we are developing at the Louisiana State University. It was produced by Kristen Healy and Matt Faust of the Louisiana State University.
