Deciphering Pact Act Presumptive Conditions for Disabled Veterans

The VA Pact Act, provides VA benefits for certain conditions that are caused or aggravated during a veteran’s active military service. The Pact Act established specific presumptive disabilities that are eligible for benefits if they occur while in active duty or within a specified period after separation from the military. These presumptive disabilities are generally related to service-connected injuries or illnesses that occurred while on active duty. The VA add more than 20 burn pit and other toxic exposure presumptive conditions based on the PACT Act. This change expands benefits for Gulf War era and post-9/11 Veterans.
