Cavite 4th district Rep. Francisco "Kiko" Barzaga attended the anti-administration rally that he called for at Forbes Park Village in Makati City late Sunday night, Oct. 12, just hours before his fellow House members were scheduled to determine whether or not he deserve punishment for his antics. Barzaga--who refers to himself as "congressmeow" and self-branded white knight against corruption--arrived outside the upscale village's Buendia gate at around 11:30 Sunday. The 27-year-old neophyte lawmaker will have less sleep because of this, as he was expected to participate in a hearing of the Committee on Ethics and Privileges at 9 a.m. Monday at the House of Representatives. Chants of "Kiko, Kiko!" and "Marcos resign!" welcomed Barzaga, who happily soaked up all the attention from the demonstrators, as he granted them requests for selfies and pictures. Outside Forbes, the unpredictable solon met up with fellow anti-administration personality lawyer Jimmy Bondoc. "Minessage ko po si Congressman Kiko Barzaga. Sumagot naman po sa messenger. Nakakatawa si Cong eh. Sabi ko, 'Cong, tuloy ba to?' Tapos ang reply niya 'Meow, (I messaged Congressman Kiko Barzaga. He replied on messenger. Congressman is funny. I asked, ' Will the rally push through, Cong?' His reply was 'Meow')," Bondoc said in his livestream of the event, which kept the Philippine National Police (PNP) on its toes Sunday. "Sabi niya, 'Waits lang (He said, Just wait)," Bondoc said of Barzaga, who has had an inordinate fascination of the gen Z uprising in Nepal that led to the toppling of its government. Barzaga--who earlier Sunday was reported to be in another rally at Rajah Sulayman Park in Malate, Manila--has openly discussed this fascination with his fellow House members (just ask Deputy Speaker Iloilo 1st district Rep. Janette Garin). Barzaga has been using hashtags #PeoplePower and #MarcosResign on his social media posts. He supported Ferdinand Marcos' presidential run in 2022, it can be recalled. At past 12 a.m. Monday, the gen Z solon wrote on Facebook, "Good job tonight, see you again soon!" Among the grounds cited in Barzaga's ethics case is "unethical conduct that potentially violates Article 142 of the Revised Penal Code or inciting to sedition)". https://mb.com.ph/2025/10/13/kiko-bar...
