On Feeling Not All There is a film about disenchantment, confusion, and the reencounter with the feeling of wonder. It is initially framed within a dream, and showcases the ‘awakening of the subject’. The conversations with her other self in the mirror (the unconscious) motivate the girl to recognize and embrace not knowing. For this will motivate rediscovery. As she explores natural and man-made realms along the way, she reflects upon how we don’t know much more about anything beyond its name. Paired with this discovery of ignorance, she starts reading more into things. I find this human characteristic to be beautiful. Refusing to be lost in the unintelligible. Weaving our way through the noticing and creation patterns. From the ever changing cloud drawn patterns of the sky to the shape of an inkblot.
