This is a review of the BOSCH GET65-5N 5 In. Dual-Mode Random Orbit Sander. What I like about the sander: The size, shape, and weight of the sander make it easy to hold and balance on your workpiece, but its still light enough to hold at a 90 degree angle and sand the edges of a workpiece. It’s powerful, you can see here in this clip the sander removes all the pencil marks in a single pass - and this is using a piece of worn out sand paper In normal mode on the highest speed setting it glides smoothly across the surface of the wood. Dust collection - when I have this hooked up to my shop vacuum I can feel a good amount of air flow coming through the sander - and there is no significant dust build up on my workpiece In normal mode it does not leave scratches on swirl marks What I don't like: When using the sander in turbo mode it is not easy to control - it will grab your workpiece and begin shaking it around You need to be careful and make sure you have a good grip on the sander when using it in turbo mode Turbo mode does do a great job of removing material quickly - BUT - it does leave behind scratch and swirl marks So what I usually do - if I need to remove a lot of material I will go over the workpiece in turbo mode to remove the bulk of material, then ill go over it again in normal mode with the same grit of sandpaper Conclusion: I think this sander hits a sweet spot on price, power, and features - it’s much better than the typical entry level random orbital sander yet it can compete with the Festool, Mirka, and 3M sanders that cost twice as much. I would recommend this to anyone who does a lot of sanding and wants to move up from an entry level random orbital sander without spending a ton of money.
