A company called BrainGate has published a paper that demonstrates some significant progress in making brain computer interfaces. Specifically, they've shown that their brain computer interface is capable of functioning completely wirelessly—and it not only records the activities of neurons, but it also enables the person with the implanted device to meaningfully interact with computers. We'll talk about the implications of this progress and compare it to Elon Musk's company, Neuralink. My most recent Neuralink Video: • Neuralink and Whole Brain Computer Interfa... My other Neuralink Video: • Update on Elon Musk's Neuralink ———————————————————— I'm a PhD in neuroscience at the University of Pennsylvania, and I think of this kind of like office hours with a teacher where you can discuss anything you find interesting. I have a podcast, Wired to be Weird, about the brain with episodes devoted to specific topics - like why we dream & fall in love to why people develop dementia or déjà vu. You can get it wherever podcasts are found. Here's one place: http://anthropoid.science/podcast Do you dig the idea of a weekly live conversation about science? I certainly do! I'd love to make it viable to do regularly when I've finished my PhD. I know not everyone is in a position to support people in this way - but, if you are, here's my Patreon: / anthropoid Do you want to chat live?
