I recently got in one of the tiny new amps from Rockford Fosgate, the PBR300x1. This amp is nearly small enough to fit in your pocket and promises up to 300 watts at 1 ohm loads. Seem too good to be true? Well, watch the video and see how it performs with multiple subwoofer loads. The 4 ohm demo uses a single JL Audio 8w1 (mid 90's model). Next, I add the Kicker SoloBaric s10c 10" sub to get a 2 ohm total load. Finally, I add a JL Audio 12w6v2 D4 with the VC's wired in parallel. All woofers are wired in parallel for an effective load of 1 ohm. Note: The JL 12w6v2 was not screwed down in the box, so you may hear a lot of noise coming from around the speaker. I know this speaker really wants around 600 watts to be happy, but I was getting some very nice bass with the limited power of this little amp that could. My PBR300x1 shows a "Max" output of over 900 watts, with RMS around 315. I was so impressed with this amp, I'm going to test it out in my car in the upcoming months. I'd also like one of the PBR300x4's for my mids and highs, but may have to wait a couple of months. Intro and ending song is Zap Beat by Kevin MacLeod.
