Welcome to our family exploring the best of Africa in the luxury and comfort provided by arguably one of the most capable SUV's on the planet, the Land Rover Discovery Series. The crisp Cape Town air whipped through the open windows of the Land Rover Discovery as our family embarked on an unforgettable adventure. Laughter echoed from within, a joyful soundtrack to our journey through the picturesque Winelands. After stocking up on some South African road trip snack favourites, our first stop was the Giraffe and Wildlife Sanctuary. Little Li's, eyes were wide with wonder, as she watched in awe as the gentle giants nuzzled their heads through the branches, their long necks gracefully reaching for treats. It was an unforgettable encounter with these magnificent creatures, a perfect start to our family adventure. Next, the Discovery navigated the winding roads, vineyards stretching out on either side, a vibrant green carpet against the backdrop of the majestic Drakenstein Mountains. At a charming boutique winery, the family indulged in a wine tasting, the rich aromas and flavours of the region tantalising our senses. The sommelier, with his passion for wine, captivated us all with stories of the vineyards and the winemaking process. Early evening brought us to a renowned and award-winning Stellenbosch Wedgeview Country Hotel & Spa, where a curated dinner awaited. The chef, a culinary artist, had prepared a feast of local delicacies, each dish a masterpiece of flavour and presentation. Our family savoured every bite, the conversation flowing freely as they reflected on the amazing day spent exploring. Exhilarated from the day of exploring, we finally retreated to our luxury accommodation, gazing at the beautiful open skies above the Cape Winelands. After waking up to a sensational sunrise over the surrounding vineyards, we ate a delicious farm-style breakfast before entering the luxurious Wedgview spa nestled amongst the vineyards. The parents indulged in rejuvenating massages, while little Li enjoyed playful spa treatments. Pampered and relaxed, we all emerged feeling refreshed and ready for the final leg of their journey. We traversed the baron and picturesque Stellenbosch farm roads to make it to our final destination of an unforgettable weekend away. Stellenbosch boarded the Stellenbosch Miniature Steam Railway was the ultimate treat to end the journey. The nostalgic chugging of the engine, the gentle sway of the carriages, and the picturesque scenery created a magical atmosphere. It was a fitting end to a memorable family adventure, a journey that had woven together the beauty of the Winelands, the thrill of wildlife encounters, the indulgence of fine wine and cuisine, and the pure joy of spending quality time together. As the sun began to set, casting long shadows across the vineyards, our family returned home, with our hearts filled any memories that we will forever cherish. A renewed appreciation for the beauty of the country in which we live. The Land Rover Discovery, our faithful companion throughout the journey, played a vital role, enabling us to explore the wonders of the Winelands with comfort, style, and adventure. Perhaps the ultimate 7-seater, from its go-anywhere ability to sublime luxury appointments, the Discovery is arguably one of the most capable and impressive SUV's around!
