Program: "Images of Downtown Redlands in the 1930s" Date: Monday, October 25, 2021 Time: 7:00 p.m. Place: Contemporary Club building at 171 Eureka Street or via Zoom Recently, the Special Collections at the A.K. Smiley Public Library acquired some rare images of downtown Redlands taken during the 1930's with the creation of a new underground channel for the Zanja with the widening of Central Avenue for the Highway 99. The dozens black and white pictures allows us to step back in time to see what life in Redlands was like during the Depression years. City Archivist, Nathan Gonzales will present the images which can be seen in person at the Contemporary Club or via Zoom. Nathan is a former president of the Historical Society and a frequent speaker on historical topics throughout the city. He most recently is collaborating with Larry Burgess and Tom Atchley with their class on local history sponsored by the library.
