Palliative care physician, Chairman of Pallium India, and a Padmashree awardee in 2018, M R Rajagopal's tireless efforts to defend the right of patients to live and die with dignity was recognized and honored by Human Rights Watch with Alison Des Forges Award for extraordinary activism. In his TEDx speech, Dr. M R Rajagopal talks about the situation of the prevailing medical industry in today's world? He sheds light on the drawbacks of today's system and compares it to the healthcare system that was established a few decades ago. He stresses on the importance of treating the patients physically and mentally as opposed to today's method of only treating the disease. An Indian palliative care physician and founder chairman of Pallium India , a palliative care non-governmental organisation based in Kerala, he was honoured with the Padma Shri in 2018 by the Indian Government for his work for the welfare of the common masses. His tireless efforts to defend the right of patients to live and die with dignity was recognised and honoured by Human Rights Watch with Alison Des Forges Award for extraordinary activism.
