Organic gardening is gaining quite a following in recent years for reasons as varied as the people who are choosing to grow organic. Growing your own food organically without chemicals is not only fun, but safer and healthier for you and your family. Bush beans (a type of green bean) take well to organic gardening and are prolific bloomers that can provide your family with abundant harvests. Even in small spaces or urban areas where most people only have room for container gardening or small square foot gardens, bush beans have been shown to do well. This video tells you how to save the seeds from your organic bush beans. The process is basically the same for all types of beans and peas. Let the pod dry out completely, rip the pod open, harvest the beans (which should now be hard) and store them in a cool dry place until you are ready to plant them the following year. If you have a basement or a root cellar those are good places to store your bush bean seeds. If you don't have a basement or root cellar you can keep them in the refrigerator or a cool cupboard. I keep my seeds in the refrigerator. Once they are completely dry, I wrap them in dry paper towels a few times and then place the paper towels containing the seeds in a zip lock bag and label the bag.
