The African Orthodox youth is a very enigmatic part of the istory of independence in Kenya. This youth had seen an opportunity in 1901 when the missionaries came to the aid of the misfits. Since there were no jails, the council of elders sentensing depended on the crime and bunishmentfrom thr society can be tatamount to death or life imprisonment. These opportunities were for the to think and act differeny as God revealed to tuem for their generations' benefit. All these changed when the colonialisrs came and took over through some made up offices, laws and practices that were strange to my grand parents. This happpened aroind 1905 and it got worse in 1925 when land alienation, hut tax, general tax, restriction of movements, abitrary arrests of men and boys. Detention camps without trials meant that enslaving of women and girls in their farms for cheap forced labour for cash crops like coffee, tea, tobacco and sisals. This triggered the need to rekindle their sense of purpose of life according to Gods will. They resolve to fight for their sovereignty and spiritual authority for their Agikuyu nation and to repossess their country highlands, forests, water bodies and mountains given to them by God. The Kikuyu Karing'a schools association was registered in 1929 by Thomas Ganda among others along side the Kikuyu Independent schools association and the first Kenyan political party: Kikuyu Central Association by a learned young man Harry Thuku. Kenya got her independent in 1963, before a young priest arrested in 1953 brought this spiritual sovereignty and authority: Gatungu wa Gathuna. Today he is remembered every July 27t as the first bishop of AOCK but the youths of babyboomers, millenials and Gen z seem to loose it again. This program is for testing their stand and knowledge of their purpose and self in the light of Orthodoxy. #youth #orthodoxliturgy #orthodoxyouths #blackhistory
