2019-2021 Subaru Forester Premium - Remote Start Module Issue Using It with your Keyless Access FOB

Our family purchased a 2021 Forester Premium and the dealership gave us a Subaru Remote Start Moduel as an Owe Me. We scheduled with Service to install it after the order arrived. After installation they demonstrated with the Remote Start FOB (RSFOB) that came with the kit. It worked fine, but I read the Instruction Card that came with the unit and it indicated that it should also work with the Keyless Access FOB (KAFOB) for the vehicle because our Forester came with Push-Button Start System. They tried and could not get it to work. Their tech didn't think it would work. I contacted two other NY Subaru Dealers about this and basically the general consensus was that it doesn't work or offer that feature. One dealer in CT their service tech said they would be interested in testing it out to help figure it out, but after checking with their senior tech it was inconclusive that it worked with the KAFOB, it doesn't work or that it would or could work. I contacted Subaru North America directly and spoke to a representative about this and they tried to walk me through the issue. At one point they asked me to try with my KAFOB and when I did it actually worked once. I tired several other times afterwards but it would not work. I could start it with the RSFOB that came with the kit and use the KAFOB to stop the engine. I tested again and got it to work again once with my KAFOB. The representative then suggest that I wait and cycle the engine manual off and then try again. After getting off the call with them I was working things through my head on what steps that I took and why did it work those two times. Finally I figured it out that the instructions the Subaru has on the instruction card with the RSFOB Kit was wrong or poorly written. This also applied to the Forester Owner's Manual because it stated the same thing. In the end I discovered that in the procedures to remote start with the KAFOB you needed a, "brief pause", and doing so as part of the steps you would consistently remote start your Forester with the KAFOB flawlessly. I did this with my wife's KAFOB. In the video I used mine and as you can see the first time it did not work. It was the length of the pause. Forester Owner's Manual - Pg 313 talks about the Remote Start. Pg 317 talks about the use of the KAFOB to remote start. ORIGNAL: When starting the engine To start the engine with remote engine start system, briefly press the lock button twice within 2 seconds, then press and hold the lock button for 3 seconds. My adjustment to the instructions: When starting the engine To start the engine with remote engine start system, briefly press the lock button twice within 2 seconds, then "BRIEFLY PAUSE 1/2 second to 1second" then press and hold the lock button for 3 seconds.
