Welcome to my channel! This is Andy from I love languages. Let's learn different languages/dialects together. Kamtapuri is an Indo-Aryan language that developed in the ancient Kamatapur Kingdom, the homeland of the Koch dynasty. It is closely related to Assamese and Bengali, sharing many linguistic features with both. Today, Kamtapuri is spoken by an estimated 15 million people, primarily in the Indian states of Assam and West Bengal, as well as in Bangladesh's Rangpur region and Nepal's Jhapa and Morang districts. The language is known by various names, including Deshi, Rajbangshi, Rangpuri, and Tajpuri. Although it is often referred to as Rajbongshi because it is primarily spoken by the Koch-Rajbongshi people, it is distinct from the original Koch language, with many speakers historically shifting to Kamtapuri due to political reasons. Because of the language's vast geographical spread and the strong influence of Assamese and Bengali, Kamtapuri has developed regional dialects and variations in script. The eastern dialects, such as Jharuwa, Dokhoriya, Ghuliya, Choruwa, and Ghuruye, are very similar, showing only minor differences. Kamtapuri is seen as a more casual and approachable language compared to Assamese and Bengali. Assamese is an Indo-Aryan language spoken primarily in the Indian state of Assam, where it is the official language. It is closely related to Bengali and Odia, sharing common linguistic roots but possessing its own distinct phonology, grammar, and vocabulary. The language has a rich literary tradition dating back to the 13th century, with significant contributions to poetry, drama, and prose. While Modern Standard Assamese is used in formal education and media, regional variations and dialects exist across different parts of Assam, influenced by the diverse ethnic groups residing in the state. Assamese has also absorbed loanwords from various Tibeto-Burman languages due to historical interactions and the presence of numerous indigenous communities in the region. This video is created for educational, language awareness, and language preservation purposes. It aims to provide valuable insights and knowledge to viewers, enhancing their understanding and appreciation of different languages and their unique characteristics. By raising awareness about linguistic diversity, the video seeks to foster a greater respect and recognition for various languages, particularly those that are endangered or underrepresented. Additionally, it contributes to the preservation of languages by documenting and sharing linguistic knowledge, thus ensuring that these languages and their cultural heritage are not lost to future generations.
