Scott Prior is a master at painting familiar subjects in an entirely new way, using light as his main subject matter. Art critic Richard Morange describes him as “a conjurer, stirring magic from the ordinary.” Of his landscapes, Scott Prior says that they all “deal with humankind’s effects on nature. Usually I see this interaction as being ironic, sometimes humorous, but always complementary.” One of the founding members of the Valley Realists, Prior’s work appears in many important public and private collections, including the Boston Museum of Fine Arts,the DeCordova Museum in Lincoln, Massachusetts and the New Britain Museum of American Art in Connecticut.
