In this moving interview, award-winning photojournalist Marcus Bleasdale (VII Photo Agency) discusses his exhibition "Stolen Children. Soldiers of the Lord's Resistance Army." Through haunting yet beautiful images, Bleasdale documents the lives of children abducted by Joseph Kony’s Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) and forced to become soldiers and sex slaves. Collaborating with organizations like Human Rights Watch, Bleasdale uses photography as a powerful tool to inform, influence, and advocate for human rights. In the video, he shares the story of Valentine, a girl abducted at 13 and held captive by Kony himself - one of many testimonies revealed through his lens. He reflects on the ethics of photographing trauma, the emotional choices behind shooting in black and white or color, and the unique role Fotografiska plays in bringing these stories to new audiences.
