The chords are played in "lockdown" position. Meaning that, for the most part, your 3rd and 4th fingers remain on the 2nd and 1st strings for the G, G/B, and Cadd9 chords. For the break section, whick is basically a pre-chorus, the Am and Em are played normally. As for Dan Kanter, he is in Drop-D tuning (possibly Double-Drop D. He uses the regular D chord, but moves to 3rd position and plays G/D. Then, he goes one of two ways.
