**DO NOT REPLICATE. FOR SCIENTIFIC PURPOSES ONLY** Bullet ants! These lovely gals are probably my favorite species of ant in the world! They are incredibly primitive and unique, being the only extant member of their tribe and genus. Bullet ants are large ants native to central and South America. They typically have medium sized colonies of around 150-300 workers and primarily feed on small soft-bodied insects like termites. Despite their reputation, bullet ants are actually incredibly docile and will only attack if heavily provoked or if they feel their nests are in danger. Bullet ants get their name from the pain their stings supposedly inflict, however I'd say this is greatly exaggerated. My goal is to break the stigma around our insects and help the world recognize just how important every species is! Without ants, bees and wasps, we would starve and our ecosystems and agricultural land would collapse. These animals provide priceless ecological services that not only directly benefit us, but benefits the planet as a whole!
