I asked Alde technical and they said "No, you can't fit a 3/8" pipe into a 10mm Alde bubble tester". So I built a test rig to discover first hand if marine grade 3/8" copper pipe and copper olive fits a 10mm Alde gas leak detector. This experiment is for my own knowledge and does not discount manufactures instructions. The purpose of this video is to highlight that legally the vast majority of metric pipes are not allowed on live-aboard narrowboats and yachts for gas purposes, as the pipe wall is not thick enough - only imperial from BS EN 1057 (old BS 2871 chart Y) are permissible. Yet the most popular recommended gas bubble tester for live-aboard boats is only available in metric. I created deliberate faults to simulate gas leak(s)... presumably caused by a Diy boat owner.
