As someone who lives across the ditch from New Zealand, and who wasn't part of the sixties N.Z. music scene, it's a little hard for me to appreciate the absolute popularity of Howard Morrison during that time. I do understand, though, that Howard was one of N.Z's all-time favourite musical sons, and that the country was consumed with great sadness when Howard passed away in 2009. This clever parody of "Wild Colonial Boy" tells the tale of the infamous New Zealand criminal cum folk hero, George Wilder. It was released in New Zealand in 1964 on a La Gloria 45, GSP-073.
