Financial Insight Zambia's Founder and CEO, Mwelwa Kenneth Chibesakunda, delivered exclusive coverage of Zambia’s growing influence in mining and infrastructure at Africa's lagest gathering of mining stakeholders. 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆 Emmanuel Chilombo Kalenga, CEO of Enterprise Power, highlighted the 190km Kalumbila-Kolwezi Interconnector Project linking Zambia and the DRC. Lisha Kufekisa, Community Social and Stakeholder Manager, outlined plans to support local communities with boreholes, solar power, boarding houses, and ablution blocks. The groundbreaking is set for March 2025, with job creation and economic benefits expected. 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗭𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗶𝗮’𝘀 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 Bydon Longwe, CEO of FirstRand Broader Africa [FNB Zambia parent company] highlighted strong investor interest in Zambia’s mining sector. He praised the government’s investor-friendly approach and noted banks’ readiness to fund large mining projects through syndication. He emphasised the importance of Zambia shaping its own critical minerals strategy. 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 Sam Hosack, MD of Prospect Resources, provided updates on the Mumbezhi Copper Project in Northwestern Zambia. Since its acquisition in May 2024, 10,000 metres of drilling have been completed, with a maiden resource estimate expected soon. He sees Mumbezhi as a potential Tier 1 asset and stressed the importance of investor engagement at Mining Indaba.
