This conference provided a comprehensive update on the current state of vision health in Canada and offered insights into what we can anticipate as we move into the post-pandemic era. We were honored to host representatives from key stakeholders in the field of vision health, who shared their perspectives on the future. The conference covered a range of vital topics, including: An in-depth overview of the Canadian Council of the Blind's report card on the state of vision health in Canada. Discussion of the challenges and concerns related to eye health at all stages of life, from birth to end-of-life. Participants received a guided tour through the "lifecycle of the eyes," focusing on what to be vigilant about, available treatment options, delivery methods for treatments, and ongoing innovations that may expand access to sight-preserving interventions. Exploration of the pivotal role played by comprehensive eye examinations in Canada's vision health landscape. A detailed report on a collaborative survey conducted jointly by the Canadian Ophthalmological Society and the Canadian Association of Optometrists, addressing issues related to access to vision health. An update on the current state of vision research in Canada, highlighting the fundamental role that research plays in advancing discoveries, delivering innovative treatments, and enhancing access to vision health care for Canadians affected by vision loss. An examination of how an integrated service delivery model for vision rehabilitation promotes client-centered care, empowering Canadians impacted by vision loss to lead the life they desire. We were also privileged to have the Honourable Judy Sgro, PC, MP, join us to provide an update on the progress of Bill C-284 – "An Act to establish a national strategy for eye care," which was initially introduced in the House of Commons in June 2022.
