Have You Taught Your Kids Personal Ethics? Why It Matters.

This was a wonderful assignment, to receive a grant to make a film for high school students on the subject of personal ethics. The subject seemed so simple. Doesn't everyone know their ethics? It turns out that most people of any age haven't explored their ethics so that in times of emergency, with decisions have to be made quickly that could affect the planet, most people have not considered their values – and what they would do. In this film, I found several examples of people who made bad decisions because they hadn't examined their personal ethics. Children learn by watching their parents so parents who teach values that they themselves don't live up to fail to teach their children the personal ethics of respect, integrity, honesty, do the right thing. I hope that this film helps people of all ages to explore their own values and the values of those around them who they can influence.
