This is my story of the injury i got on my Thoracic nerve which cause my serratus anterior to stop working. It all started after one night i slept in a hotel bed were i woke up and felt severe pain in the back om my right scapula, it was like someone was pushing ones thumb as hard as they could in the back on my shoulder on a scale on 1-10 it felt like an 8 in the back of my right shoulder. When i later that day started to stand up the pain went away and i could only feel a slight soreness in my shoulder. What then happend though was that this pain would come back every night for 3 months and i couldn’t sleep for more than 1-2 hours until the severe pain would come back so i had to sleep for a little bit, be up standing for 40-45 minutes and go back to sleep for 2-3 cycles each night for some months then finally i met a massage guy who relived alot of the pain by simply massaging my right trapezius, a few weeks of that regular treatment the pain went away but then my serratus anterior on the right side stopped working. I could feel that my scapula winged out that my shoulder overall felt out of balance, i went and saw alot of doctors and they constated that i’ve got a nervdamage and that it affected my serratus anterior, they sayed it would take 2 years for the nerve to recover and that i had to take it easy in the meanwhile. This is the story of how i tackled it and my thoughts on training during the period of a severe weakened serratus anterior. Serratus anterior palsy aint to play around with, during the period of injury your shoulder muscles, ligaments and all the other nerves it under a lot of stress and you don’t want to wrongly develop muscles around and in your scapula so you will will further problems once the serratus is back in decent shape so take it easy on the shoulders and make sure you’re doing everything you can to make it easy for your shoulder to co-op with life.
