I couldn't believe my luck when I was invited via the GRRC to tour Gordon Murray Automotive's HQ. Then things got even better; not only would Gordon be on site to show us around personally but he had extended the invite to include some of his personal collection. My first dilemma was which car i should drive to the event? I loved my daily driver 350z, but that wouldn't cut it in this company! I put it to the vote with my car club and it was unanimous. 'They'll have seen a 20 year old Ferrari before, but Pedro is unique'. So I rocked up outside the molecule building in my world travelling Baja Bug, immediately upstaging all comers. I made my way down the spiral staircase and through a small door to the garage. So transfixed was I by the captivating beauty and accentuated curves of a deep blue Maserati Birdcage, that I failed to notice our host stood, hand extended to greet me. He was very gracious, completing understanding my distraction but it was no good, I wasn't looking at him but at the Morelli bodied Osca spider behind him. He sent me off to explore the garage at my leisure as more guests arrived behind me. It was fascinating to see the cars that have inspired Gordon's designs over the years. The cars he has fallen in love. One thing they all had in common, lightness. There were a lot of small, lightweight cars in the garage. This surprised me for such a tall man. How did he fit in such small cars?
