Kingfish are highly regarded by spearos and fishermen alike for their power and prestige. A favorite among many with no short supply of epic tales in their name. These fish are known to test the limits of a diver and their equipment. Back out to the heads the target is, you guessed it... KINGFISH! The best place to start is by locating the baitfish. Kingies are predatory and will often been found lurking on the outskirts of nervous schools of smaller fish. Spend enough time with prey and you find a predator. Next step is to not screw it up. Its not summer yet, the kings are flighty, not out droves as during the hotter months. You may only get a couple chances, you may get one, or even none. You cannot let your guard down in the ocean, each and every dive could change your life, or even end it... Dive safe this coming season and respect the ocean. Many people will be hitting the coast this summer. We need to remember to dive within our limits and be conscious about the effect we are having on the environment. Silly season is an appropriate term, I have seen some out the gate stuff over the holiday period. My biggest piece of advice is look out for boats, don't get smoked.
