'A Taste of SPI' is a free webinar series designed to give you a preview of the Summer Peacebuilding Institute experience. These short, interactive sessions offer a chance to sample our courses, meet the instructors, and engage with the questions, practices, and approaches to learning that define SPI. Whether you’re deciding which courses are the right fit, or exploring SPI for the first time, A Taste of SPI invites you to step into the learning before committing to the full program. Power, Difference and Restorative Justice in Practice, with Joe Cole and DeMointé Wesley Restorative Justice seeks to address harm and promote equity, yet differences in culture, identity, and power remain present - and are sometimes obscured - within restorative processes. In this interactive session, participants will engage with key questions and practices drawn from the full course, including how power and positionality shape restorative work, distinctions between conflict and harm, critiques of RJ from transformative justice perspectives, and the relationship between RJ, settler-colonialism, and institutional harm.
