Congress leader Shama Mohamed addressed the media in a press conference and demanded an OBC quota in the women's reservation bill. Congress said that the Women’s Reservation Bill, which proposes to reserve 33% of seats for women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies, has been introduced by the BJP-led government in the Parliament on September 20, 2023. The bill has the backing of most parties, including the Congress. But, Sonia Gandhi, the former Congress president, has demanded that Other Backward Classes (OBC) should also get reservations within the women’s quota.
