Overlooking Beppu, Mount Tsurumi, is a 1375 meter high mountain accessible by walk if you are really motivated or via a very convenient ropeway. On top of Mount Tsurumi you will find a little park with a quick hike around the top. What’s unique here is Mount Tsurumi’s breathtaking view of Beppu city and the surrounding area all year long, day or night! The best season to enjoy Mt Tsurumi would be around spring with the first cherry blossoms, then around mid-May to early June with a beautiful parterre of rhododendron and of course the autumn colors!
