Full review at www.redferret.net . The Audi A3 Sportback eTron is the new hybrid car from the German stable. It comes with a 1.4 litre petrol engine, supplemented by an electric motor which gives around 30 miles of all electric driving. In practice this is actually more like 20+ miles, but hey, who's quibbling? The car drives extremely well, smoother than the Golf GTE we tested recently, and seems to deliver a very credible mileage. We managed to get around 50 mpg out of it in our city driving test, which is a solid performance. You're paying a premium for the Audi badge of course, but it's more than just a re-badge of the Golf GTE (they share the same power-train and battery tech). The designers have made enough subtle differences to make this model stand out on its own. Well worth considering if you're looking for a quality hybrid vehicle for the family motoring.
