It was another great day to get out in the woods on Saturday and get some habitat on the ground. This was another bedding cut that came to fruition due to the great terrain features in this area. This woods was wide open spaces with little deer habitat down in the deer's face. There's a lot of chainsaw work planned for this property in the future, but over time it will come together and a very predictable line of deer movement, in particular buck movement, will take shape. I love projects like this because I know how impactful they can be. When you're the only one doing this type of work in your area, you create a ton of pulling power on your property that really makes your property stand out compared to the neighbors. For cut stump I treat the stump with a 25% solution of Triclopyr 4/ 75% diesel or crop oil. I like to mix in applicator dye with both solutions to see where I'm spraying easier. You end up using less chemical if you mix in dye.
