Story of my ride: Sydney to Wollongong (via Royal National Park) cycling day trip, Father & Son time

Sydney to Wollongong, it has been a favourite route of cyclists for years. With a few deviations to take in the many and varied sights, it rolls out to around 100km with ±1,000m of climbing. On the Thursday morning that my son enjoyed a ride – through the Shire, the Royal National Park, then down the coast road, and along the many bike paths – there was fuss-free traffic (ie. long stretches without any other vehicles at all) as well as glorious weather conditions. This is the story of my ride to Wollongong with my 19-year-old son, Louis. We got a bit of exercise, took in plenty of scenery, and had a good chat along the way. Upon arrival, we had lunch and then caught the train back to Sydney. If you're looking for an ideal cycling day-trip experience from Sydney, I'd highly recommend exploring the roads leading to Wollongong!
