*Click "Show more" for rule citations* They say that the best way to truly understand something is to teach it to others. I hope to do these videos more often to sharpen up my own knowledge of the game and help beginners at the same time. Please leave feedback and/or your favorite interesting rulings in the comments! Standard format plays are preferred, but anything really fun to explain will be considered :) Rules used in this video: 112.3c Triggered abilities have a trigger condition and an effect. They are written as "[Trigger condition], [effect]," and begin with the word "when," "whenever," or "at." Whenever the trigger event occurs, the ability is put on the stack the next time a player would receive priority and stays there until it's countered, it resolves, or it otherwise leaves the stack. See rule 603, "Handling Triggered Abilities." 116.3b The active player receives priority after a spell or ability (other than a mana ability) resolves. 405.1. When a spell is cast, the physical card is put on the stack (see rule 601.2a). When an ability is activated or triggers, it goes on top of the stack without any card associated with it (see rules 602.2a and 603.3). 405.5. When all players pass in succession, the top (last-added) spell or ability on the stack resolves. If the stack is empty when all players pass, the current step or phase ends and the next begins.
